New technology at Plastima: 3D printing!
After holding offices at Minervum 7436 for almost 25 years, it was time for Plastima to take the next step, a new office building at Minervum 7101 in Breda. In this new building, Plastima has rigged up a unique tech-experience in the Dutch plastics industry: the Plastima Tech-Centre!
Several ultrasonic welding techniques are on display in the Plastima Tech-Centre, with the ultrasonic-relevant equipment provided by ultrasonic market leader Herrmann Ultraschall. An ultrasonic welding system consists of several components. The active components move up to a wavelength of 45microns. These minuscule vibrations are transmitted to the product by means of a defined pressure, thus transferring energy to the welding area. Through the development of energy on a thermoplastic product, a molecular welding joint is created between two bonding partners. The passive components absorb the resulting forces and, in particular, support the point of the welded joint where the parts are joined.
In this state-of-the-art Tech-Centre, the most economical and durable joining techniques in the plastics industry are tested. These include 3D printing of workpiece impressions, ultrasonic welding of complex plastic products as well as full examination of the tightness and quality of the weld by microscopic examination. In short; it can all be experienced in the Plastima Tech-Centre.
